Okay-- A long time ago I posted about a sorta swap au for the splatoon manga on tumblr. ever since then, I had a lot of changes and mini 'revamps' of sorts. And I think now is my opportunity to.. you know, actually talk about my stuff.

OKAY SO.....

....I actually have no idea where to start. uh.... maybe putting a heading here might give me motivation???

WOW!!! So, what might a coroika swap au be about, anywayyyy?

Simply put, it's one where Goggles and Rider are... well, swapped!!!! and what might THAT mean?!!!! It's hard to explain in a single sentence so I will ramble I can do that wowowwwoowow

In this AU, Rider is the leader of team Rockenberg, consisting of: Rider, Specs, Headphones, and of course, Bobble hat!

Now, what about Goggles? where might he be? He has no team! and since he no longer possesses the power of friendship, he's no longer OP. :(( oh and he hates rider

THE BEGINNIG OF GOGGLES' HATRED

Goggles and team Rockenberg were all in the same kindergarten. Goggles was never able to befriend any of them. And when he tried to ask Bobble hat to play, Rider got there first, invitng her to play with a ball with him, specs and headphones. Even tho he's like 5 Goggles starts to be jealous of rider at around here. then the ball ends up in a tree. "Maybe I could climb that tree..." rider thinks out loud. Goggles runs to the tree having heard that thought and climbs the tree despite the other kids' protests. He climbs the branch, gets the ball, and.. he falls! Rider rushes to get an adult and is praised for his action, while Goggles is only scolded for doing something so reckless. Since then, he always cried when paired up with Rider and no one knew why

The years pass, and Rider becomes very popular and well-known for: being Rockenberg's son, his charming/warm/whatever personality, his kindness and strenght. Goggles sees NONE of his positive attributes, but instead sees him as fake, mocking, cruel, and lowkey a nepobaby lel. He holds a grudge against Rider for basically..... having friends and being liked and visible. lol.

Goggles rarely goes out. He doesn't do turf war. or pretty much anything but seethe online. speaking of seething online...

THE ANTI-RIDER UNION

I made uo the 'anti-rider union' name just now. usually I refer to it as Goggles' anonymous rider hatepage. basically opposite of a fanpage on social media and such. do those still exist? I saw them somewhat frequently on tiktok in like...... uh, was it 2022-ish?

Well... moving on, Goggles just posts a bunch of anti-rider stuff. who knew? He attempts spreading rumors that Rider is actually problematic or something because he 'killed an octoling soldier for his octoling boots' but Rider replied with what actually happened. which is.... He was a curious child who followed an odd-looking inkling... except, she wasn't an inkling, but instead an octoling. She and her group couldn't understand this squid child and like.... he's a child they're not really gonna kill a child for no reason and so they gave him a spare pair of boots to make him leave. and it worked!

Welll,,,,,,, Through this account, Goggles meets a like-minded person. someone, who much like him, also finds rider insanely annoying. that someone being....

MASK COROIKA!!1!!!!!!!11!!111!

His account is called something that is referencing anonymous m because cyan and. the m could stand for mask. Though Goggles doesn't know that this is Mask of the S4!!! (yeah. I didn't do anything w/ the s4 i just changed goggles and rider) He goes by just plain M on his anonyM account or whatver it should be called. maybe just anonymous_M yeeeeaaahhhh ok

They chat through DMs frequently. M influences goggles even more as they start planning actual, genuine ways to get rid of Rider. or to just cause him trouble just to see the smile crumble off his face. One of these ideas were cutting off rider's respawn mechanism so that the next time he's splatted in battle, he won't return. M sends Goggles the exact instructions for what wires and stuff he's gonna want to cut. Rider posts something about being in the lobby tomorrow at (insert time here) and encouraging others to come and say Hi. or something. Anyway, That's how Goggles and M solidify the plan and idk Goggles goes out that day for the first time in one billion years wow no way

The next day Goggles is there at the lobby, sabotaging Rider's inktank (forgot to mention that for this AU I decided the respawn mechanism has something to do with the ink tank. maybe ill elaborate later maybe not!!!1!1!1) but just as he was about to leave...

"Hey, you with the goggles!"

Goggles froze at the familiarly annoying voice. It was Rider's, no doubt. Did he notice the sabotaged ink tank?! gosh, hopefully not--

"Are you new to turf war? There's a duo challenge right now, want to join me in it?" Rider asks. (or something like this. Initially I wanted him to ask if Goggles is new around here because he hasn't seen him around...... but i feel like Rider should remember kindergarten a bit at least? so maybe goggles is kinda familiar to Rider but he's never seen him in turf war if that makes sense,?)

"...I don't have a weapon," Goggles hesitates. however, Rider says he can borrow one of his. Goggles has no idea what to do so he just. goes along with it I suppose

Anyway, during the battle Rider is cheering Goggles on. For the first time in his life, Goggles feels like he's cared about, as much as he tries to deny it. Rider is about to be splatted, and thats when goggles remembered the whole thing with the respawing thing being shut off. For reasons not even he can comprehend, Goggles dashed in front of rider everytime he was in danger. Rider's trying to give him tips everytime because he thinks goggles is just a newbie. which... I mean, he is, I guess. so maybe the tips would've helped if it was like a normal turf war where rider wasn't on the brink of death every time he was hit with slightly too much enemy ink
